Opvallend
- After Stan's birth, Eva and Bruno waited seven years before receiving a personal assistance budget (PAB), which was essential to even consider a second child.
- During the pregnancy with Lien, Eva had a bleeding at 24 weeks and spent weeks in the mother intensive care unit, with the amniotic sac bulging through the cervix, until Lien was born at 38 weeks.
- Lien was born healthy and was immediately examined by Stan's neurologist; later, when she was 6, that neurologist explained epilepsy to her using scans of Stan's brain, which she later explained to her parents at dinner.
- Lien attends Brussekamp, a camp for siblings of children with disabilities; after the first camp she cried all the way home because she had finally met peers who understood her.
- Stan, who has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, now eats a blended diet of normal food (such as oatmeal with banana, peanut butter, and soy drink) through a duodenal tube, after his previous tube feeding formula was discontinued.
